On Friday, September 28, 2012, ProQuip International helped celebrate the official opening of the 675kW AC solar energy project they provided EPC services for in partnership with Solarize Energy LP on the cattle barns of Van Osch Farms Ltd. in the Mt. Carmel/Lucan area of Ontario. This is ranked as the largest roof top solar panel system installed on an Ontario farm to date. The project entailed the mounting and cabling of 3,393 solar panels on 5 barn roofs in 3 main farm locations and interconnecting them to 3 centralized inverters and the metered grid connections. The project was completed on time and under budget.
Several area dignitaries and news outlets were present, as were other farm and agricultural industry operators interested in the technology and opportunities to generate clean, green electricity and create an additional revenue stream from their own operations. The owners of Van Osch Farms Ltd. were interviewed prior to the official opening celebrations as shown in the Brantford Expositor news article below. Presentations by speakers included that of Sam Tavernese, President of ProQuip International and quoted in the accompanying press release.
